Baptism is water applied in the Name of the Triune God according to Jesus' mandate and promise (Mt. 28:19-20). Baptism works the new birth and faith, delivers the forgiveness of sins, rescues from death and the devil, unites a person with Jesus' death and resurrection, and bestows eternal life and salvation on all who believe the promise of salvation attached to Baptism. (Jn. 3:5; Titus 3:5; Eph. 5:25-26; Ro. 6:4; Col. 2:11-12; 1 Pet. 3:21; Mk. 16:16)
